Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Jayanti 2023 commemorates the birth anniversary of an eminent personality in India’s fight for independence, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Known for his powerful slogan, “You give me blood, I will give you freedom,” he was born on January 23rd, 1897, in Cuttack, Odisha. His parents, Prabhavati Devi and Janakinath Bose, played significant roles in his upbringing, with his father being a renowned lawyer and member of the Bengal Legislative Assembly.

During World War II, Netaji established the Indian National Army, receiving support from Japan, to wage war against British rule. This date, January 23rd, 2023, marks the 126th anniversary of his birth.

Despite holding a successful career in the administrative service, Netaji chose to leave his job and dedicate himself entirely to the cause of freedom. Throughout his life, he was imprisoned on eleven occasions, starting with his first term in July 1921. Additionally, he served as the President of the Indian National Congress twice.

The circumstances surrounding Netaji’s death remain shrouded in mystery. While traveling to Japan in 1945, his plane supposedly crashed in Taiwan, but his remains have never been conclusively found or identified.
